Raindrop is the work of Sydney Lo-fi Producer Miles Devine, who has spent the last 5 years embracing isolation and discovering the benefits of social anxiety.
With a couple of EP’s in the back catalogue, Devine dedicated the entirety of 2016 to writing a full-length album alongside his girlfriend and co-songwriter Hunter Atari. Barricading himself behind a wall of synthesisers and tape machines, he then took these songs to the most texturally strange paradise that resulted in the album ‘Mild Meltdowns.’
This introspective process was then sculpted and humanised with a collection of Sydney based musicians who collaborate with Devine in the studio and also play as the live incarnation of Raindrop.
After intense and lengthy amounts of time in the studio, SPOD took this collaborative result into his own hands to mix. The only instruction given to him by Devine was that there were no limits to how far he was allowed to take things. The result was SPOD adding absurd amounts of effects, Linn drums and a whole bunch of sexy frequencies that leave us with what we now know as the ‘Raindrop Sound.’
